Making Money Online (From Photos)

Most money I have made online so far has been from Google AdSense.

If you have a Google AdWords campaign, and you have the ‘content’ network enabled on that campaign, then your adverts will show up on web sites related to the keywords you are advertising for, provided the web site owner uses Google Adsense.

e.g. – if you have an AdWords campaign to sell ‘Irish Photos’ – your advert may appear on my web site http://www.irishviews.com

If you are an advertiser, then *please* approach the ‘content’ network with caution.  It does work for some people, but it is also a very easy way to waste money on traffic that is not very well targeted.  At the very least, I recommend having a separate Google AdWords campaign for the ‘Search’ and ‘Content’ network, with lower bids on the Content network to start with.

Anyway… (Takes Google AdWords consultant hat off temporarily)..

If you have one or more web sites that get a lot of traffic, and you don’t make money from those web sites by selling a product or service directly, then Google AdSense it is often one of your best options.

Since I started using Google AdSense on some of my web sites around May 2005, I have received the following from Google:-

adsense-earnings

They have recently started showing earnings in GBP (UK Pounds Sterling), before that, you had no option but to view your earnings in US Dollars, and then hope that the exchange rate was good when Google transferred money to your bank account.  In one way this was great – it made my earnings look approx 1.6 times bigger than they do now…

If you are wondering why some of the figures are obscured, it is because Google don’t like people publishing what their eCPMs and CTRs are (although they don’t mind people publishing their overall earnings!)

PS – Before anyone rushes out and sets up a little web site so Google can transfer copious amounts of cash into their bank accounts – if I was honest about the amount of spare time I have spent on my AdSense web sites to date, I would probably be working for the minimum wage….

PPS – I am *not* a make money online guru.  I do *not* know everything.  There are probably a large number of people who would have done things differently with my web sites and made a lot more money….  If you get a lot of well targeted traffic then a good affiliate program will probably work better for you than AdSense…
